Tracy Killeen: All Kinds of Beautiful
Written by: Dierdre Le Blang
August 3, 2009
This is a guest post by Dierdre Le Blang. Thanks and welcome Dee! The power and strength it would take to bare one’s soul to the world via music must be a risky choice, but the results can be exhilarating and empowering for the artist and listener alike, as I recently discovered with country artist Tracy Killeen and her album ‘Back There’ I used to be one of ‘those’ people that would spout about not liking country music, and quite frankly, couldn’t understand the fuss about it, and why the genre had such an enormous and devoted following?! I mean truly, wouldn’t the world prefer a little less twanging and duelling banjos, and listen to something that you could honestly relate to? That was then…. Now however, I happily join the ranks of country music fans around the nation, and this is in no small part due to Tracy and her album. I am pleased to admit that I am no longer able to say “I don’t like Country!!” Speaking with Tracy, she shares her emotional connection to her songs and the hope of it having a positive impact on the audience, as it has had on her life in the writing of it. “There’s still beauty despite the negatives” she reminded me, as she shared that the song ‘Almost Feeling Good’ whilst about getting over heartache was to help her grow stronger and embrace her future. Quite simply, her album is an absolute joy to listen to; it reminds me of the simple pleasures that I used to make time for in my life – time laughing and enjoying the company of family and friends; BBQ’s on sunny summer afternoons that finished far too soon; and laying on my back on the grass as a kid watching the clouds scud above me, believing that I could do and be anything ‘when I grew up’. “Kids are open to new things, they believe they can do anything and are so open to embracing the essence of believing in themselves” Tracy shared when speaking of the track ‘Back There’. Listening to her talk about that beauty and innocence of children, and that “Yeah I can!” ability they have brings the memories of my own joyful childhood flooding back and leaves me pondering what has changed in my life since then. Her music calls me to remember the inner strength, courage and ability I had as a child and still have within me as an adult, yet at times forget far too easily when the pressures and stress of modern life cloud my vision. Her music reflects on our collective challenges and the strength we all have within us to work through them, yet leaves you feeling inspired and encouraged; that we’re never alone in our journey. Listening to this album makes me want to dance, and smile, and laugh, and play hopscotch and skipping games with my nieces. I want to giggle, and sing, and fall down to discover that I DO have the strength to get up again, dust myself off, and harness that power within to realise there was a lesson to learn (and to welcome it!). It reminds me to also be grateful for all the beauty, in all its forms, that I now have in my life and had in the past, even if I couldn’t see it at the time. It speaks of lost love, new love, and the hardships of life but encourages me to use it as a gauge to see where I’ve come from, where I am now, and how much stronger I am for having had those experiences. It was a wise soul that once said we are today a result of all our experiences and all the people that have passed before us. If only I could be that wise. I openly admit to being a huge fan of my parents; their strength, determination and sheer perseverance to never give up, ever, is reinforced when I listen to the track ‘My Dad’, and I admire them more and more as Tracy talks of hers. I just want to visit mine and give them a hug, of thanks if nothing else (although they may think that a little weird, they’re used to me by now). You won’t however get me publicly admitting to the fact that ‘My Dad’ makes me want to cry when I listen to it, but if I ‘were’ to say that, it would be in a good way, in a thankful way, as in that one brief moment through relating to Tracy’s words, I realise that maybe, just maybe, some of the good things that I admire so much about my parents have rubbed off on me a little too. I’m sure my neighbours are now fans of Tracy’s album, as they’ve heard it a few times in as many weeks blaring from my stereo. I have to be thankful they can’t see the dance moves that I’ve created to go with each song! It truly is a feel good album for me, and if I can believe that I’m a fantastic singer and dancer just by listening to it, then I guess it’s not too far a stretch to believe that I have everything within me right now that I need; including the sometimes elusive power and strength to be who I am. There truly is ‘All Kinds Of Beautiful’ in this world. I invite you to find out more about Tracy Killeen and her music at her website, and her MySpace. More about our Guest Author: Dierdre Le Blang is the owner of Primal Entertainment; a music industry agency based on the north shore of Sydney that was born from a passion for live music and a desire to support and encourage the creative souls that work with it. “Being able to harness the power of music, and utilise that to inspire others in their journey, is a privilege”

  So I tried to do a vlog for you guys but my computer has been funking out and I’m going to presume that a shotty-noised-out (intentionally of course) webcam photo should suffice. It will.   Cleverly coining new phrases is what I’m all about. Though if you don’t find this even the slightest bit clever I can definitely accept that as well. I just really like alliteration to be honest, that’s where all the c’s came into play.   Truth is, I have been swamped this last little while. Swamped with either figuring out what my next steps are, what I’m doing now and how to do it better, event planning, and working two jobs (until end of last week, phew).   I’ve come back renewed. I know where I want to take mon career, I’m coming to terms of with the things that I’ve done in the last year (which by the by, I am completely going to summarize for myself in an upcoming birthday-esque post), and I know what skills and morsels of talent that I want to hone. I want to be the creator of something great. I want to be an originator of art and content. And I’m looking to urbanebloc.com to help me channel that.   Watch out world, the soon-to-be-23 is coming.   SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "“Direction is the most beautiful thing imaginable”", url: "http://www.urbanebloc.com/direction-is-the-most-beautiful-thing-imaginable/" });

Most businesses usually have a limited budget and you need to make sure the design will be as effective as possible. When designing a brochure its tempting to cram it full of as much information as possible, but the real goal is to get the reader to take action, not overload them with information. Taking action could be anything from visiting a website to calling a phone number and will vary from business to business. A brochure is supposed to provide additional information on a topic the potential client or consumer is interested in. It should highlight important benefits, features, build confidence and have the proper call to actions. The design should be eye-catching and consistent with your branding. Clients often give designers a large amount of information to fit into a brochure and fitting in all this information is often the hardest part. Try to beak up the information using white space, sub titles, images and so on. If there is just way to much information, ask the client if its possible to cut down the amount of text. Check out the Brochures below to see what solutions other designers have come up with. A beautiful Sunny Day - “Only The Good” Friday
May 29, 2009 · Print This Article
It’s a beautiful sunny day on this “Good” Friday and I’m trying to get finished up with my planting.  It’s been over a week of great weather, which is nice since we had such a cool wet spring.  (The wet spring  brought on an abundance of Slugs which are making a feast of my Hostas and Marigolds…. which is not good.)  However, other than that, I’ve enjoyed being out in the sunshine planting my flowers, tomato containers and herb garden. I love to peek over and see what my neighbors are planting because everyone’s tastes are so different.  Gardening is truly a reflection of the heart.   My garden is filled with “old fashion” flowers like Marigolds, Geraniums, and a few Petunias.  I have a new variety of Petunias this year that look like tiny Gardenias.  Of course,  English Lavender is special and  several plants adorn  my garden, which is harvested in the fall for sachets. I do enjoy finding new plant verities at the nursery that are placed  in the flower garden.  This year I found this fun flower called Pink Mulla Mulla and it’s going into this container this morning.                Unfortunately, it’s an annual and won’t be back next year… but the enjoyment it offers this year will be enough. I’m off to enjoy this “Good” Friday in my garden.   I hope your weather is sunny and bright and your Friday will be a “Good” one. Till Later Kathy Insightful Nana P.S.  Don’t forget to pass on your “Good” Friday news.  When you do… check with  Shelly at This Eclectic Life.  She’s the host of this “Positive Movement. I had a bit of time to kill before everyone arrived so I took the Merrimac ferry and walked on the Ice Age Trail near the east entrance to the park.  Unfortunately, my attempt to reach the railroad grade near tempting looking rocks on the south bluff were repelled by a weird marshland of sorts and I retreated to drier ground. After killing a sufficient amount of time everyone showed up and we immediately headed to the talus beneath the West Bluff to check out Alpine Club (V9) and beautiful Soup (V8/9ish). Alpine Club is a short problem of pure difficulty that revolves around locking off a bad right hand edge long enough to hit (and hold) a small horizontal crimp.  After working out a sequence Nic manage to do the problem starting on the 2nd hold, but he wasn’t able to add in the first move.  Next trip for sure. This is a sequence of pictures of what a send might look like Locking off the bad right hand Hitting the bad crimp Each streak of blood represents a time Nic’s hand blew off the slick hold and crushed his knuckles into the rock.  Ouch. Steve trying hard After an exhausting number of attempts on Alpine Club, the crew moved one boulder uphill to try beautiful Soup.  beautiful Soup is relatively short, like Alpine Club, but the method is quite a bit different.  From the start you reach up with your right hand and establish on a sharp right hand crimp.  Then you find a glassy hold to paste your foot on and explode to the less than juggy rail at half height.  Witness several explosions below: Josh Helke shout-out Despite my having several frames of everyone’s hand ON the jug, noone was able to hold it.  Next trip for sure… Here are the rest of the pictures:

The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) is a Victorian style, Romanesque Revival architecture building in the CBD of Sydney, It has been described by Pierre Cardin as “the most beautiful shopping centre in the world”. I don’t like shopping, But I think it’s worth to have a look around! Constructed in 1898, Queen Victoria Building was built to replace the original Sydney Markets. The building was deteriorated and saved from destruction by a restoration programme in 1959 and renovated in 1986. It’s not only a spectacular historical building, But also one of the most famous modern shopping centre of the contemporary era. I loved to gawk at the top floor of Queen Victoria Building, Enjoy the spectacular architectural from interior. Yeah, That’s enough even I didn’t enjoy shopping there.
